Andrew Viscariello,
a junior Classics major at Monmouth College
,has been selected as a winner
of the Carole Ann Ryan Award for College Majors in
foreign Language by the Illinois Council on the Teaching
of Foreign Languages.
The Carole Ann Ryan Award was
established in the spring of 2002 in memory of Dr.
Carole Ann Ryan, a noted professor of languages at
Illinois College. This award is awarded to promising
students enrolled in Illinois colleges and universities
who are preparing to become teachers of foreign
languages. Viscariello plans to
teach Latin in middle or high school after graduation.
Recipients receive one year’s complimentary
membership in the Illinois Council on the Teaching of
Foreign Languages as well as complimentary registration
for the Annual Fall Conference.
The award will be presented this
year at a special Awards Banquet at the Hickory Ridge
Marriott Hotel in Lisle, Illinois, within the setting of
the state conference of the Illinois Council on the
Teaching of Foreign Languages on the weekend of October
19-21, 2006.
