Height: 2 3/16” (5.6cm)
Material or Medium: Mosaic Glass
Date of Origin: First Century, CE -- Rome
Description: Mosaic glass seems to be a refined term for multi-colored, mostly dark, glass. Scraps? This figure is a mixture of carefully contoured body and awkward, even shapeless head. The figure is in the classic pose of having the left knee bent and thrust forward with a draped gown falling over the feet. The arms are lifted to the head, as if adjusting her hair, but the facial features are indistinct. At the waist in back is a ring which looks almost like a bustle but which in fact provides a means to hang the figure as a neck charm.
