Minutes of the Second General Business Meeting of the Illinois Classical Conference held on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, in the Highlander Room of the Stockdale Center at Monmouth College, Monmouth, Ill.

The meeting was called to order by President Jane Borelli at 12:20pm.

Henrietta Davis of the Awards Committee presented a Retirement Award to Rose Mary Zemaitis of Eisenhower H.S. in Decatur, Ill.  She praised the honoree for her many years of service and dedication to her teaching, ILT and IJCL.

Thomas Sienkewicz then announced 2 more Retirement Award honorees:  President Jane Borelli of Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and former ICC President Thomas Watkins of Western Illinois Univ., Macomb, Ill.  Both were praised for their teaching careers, dedicated scholarship and service to the ICC.

President Borelli then passed the gavel to successor Laurie Jolicoeur, and Thomas Watkins took the attendees on one of his famous illustrated tours, this time “Gods and Heroes in Asia Minor.”

Virginia Hellenga of the Resolutions Committee presented the resolutions and thanked everyone involved for the hard work in making this year’s convention a success, and thanked everyone for attending the conference.

Kathryn Spencer then moved, seconded by Mary Strand, to accept the slate of nominated officers as elected.  There was no discussion, and the motion passed by acclamation.

There being no further business, Dawn McRoberts moved, seconded by Lois Dion, to adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed by acclamation, and the meeting adjourned at 1:15pm.
