This
Classical Mythology course focuses on the gods and goddesses of the
ancient Greeks and Romans and their interaction with mortals.
Greco-Roman myths will be used to determine ancient attitudes towards
deity in general, distinctions between gods and goddesses, the role of
deity in the lives of heroes and ordinary mortals, and ways that these
deities are depicted in the modern world. This course fulfills the
Beauty and Meaning requirement.
Some of the questions addressed in this course include:
What are the characteristics of a classical deity?
What is the relationship between classical deities and humans?
How
are classical deities similar to and differe from deities in other
cultures?
