HERO PATTERN

Candidate for Heroine: Queen Nefertiti (1367 – 1343 B.C.E.)

She is believed to be the daughter of Aye and Tiy or the eldest daughter of Amenhotep III and Sitamun (4). Since her father is a pharaoh he is considered to be a living God. So he is both mortal and divine (5). She is also believed to be a princess from another land (1 &2& 8). We are told nothing of her childhood (9). She marries Pharoah Ankh Aton (12) and becomes Queen (13). She initiated many religious, artistic and cultural changes (15). In the 12th year of Ankh Aton’s reign she falls out of favor. Many believe that it was because she disapproved of the slow return to worship of Amun (16). She was banished to a northern palace (17). Her sacrophagus was never found so her death remains mysterious (18 & 21). Nefertiti was also known for her great beauty.

Total number of points from Pattern: 13
