Hippolytus, the son of Theseus, is hereby charged with neglect of duty to the goddess Aphrodite and excessive worship of the goddess Artemis.

You are a member of the defense or prosecution teams. In class use Euripides’ Hippolytus to prepare your opening remarks which will be presented to the jury (the class) on Thursday.

Following Thursday’s class , you will prepare in writing your own concluding remarks for the jury. I will share these with everyone in the class via e-mail.

One of the questions on the next unit quiz will be your vote in the case as a member of the jury. Is Hippolytus innocent or guilty as charged and why?
